Here’s an aspect of the repeal of DADT that I hadn’t considered before. My alma mater, Mount Holyoke, didn’t have a ROTC unit on campus but nearby UMass did. All organizations recruiting on the MHC campus had to sign an acknowledgment of nondiscrimination, so I imagine this was a barrier to military recruiters on our gay-friendly campus. The first few days after we brought Alamo home from the San Antonio Humane Society, he would startle at the start of the music, but then he settled into the nice tradition of sitting at attention by the nearest window.
