Packing... packing...
Heading off to northern Vermont tomorrow after work and the packing is going… okay. I wanted to wear some cute stuff but then Jack mentions how he has to work out and would I like to join him (um, okay) and then says we could go snowshoeing too. So on top of the cute outfits I have planned, I have also included work out gear and outdoors wear. Oh, and that adds another pair of shoes to the...

Happy Hanukkah!
To those of you who celebrate Hanukkah, I hope you’re having a wonderful one!

Snoopin' around facebook
After browsing the membership of a facebook group called Air Force Officer Spouses, I’m feeling a bit out of my element. First, many of the members are sort of old seeming… and it still skeezes me out to see middle aged people on facebook (remember back in the day when it was like, 16 colleges?). The second part is that the vast majority (though admittedly I didn’t get through...
HIV infects women through healthy tissue |... →
Reading this made me really sad. I wonder if HIV can attack healthy penis skin too? This certainly suggests that HIV transmission is a lot easier than we think.
What I am confused about in this article: the part about the clinical trial in Africa where women used diaphragms and they studied diaphragm use as it relates to HIV transmission.
SAY WHAT?! When did we think that a diaphragm would ever...

Blargh.
Got an eye check up today. Not a very pleasant experience. I went to this specific doctor because he’s the only one in the area that is “in network” according to my insurance. I did not like it. I felt like he was just trying to sell stuff and make me spend a lot of money on products that he is probably paid to push. And I don’t know what’s up with my eyes (he said...
Urban Outfitters Pulls Pro-Gay-Marriage Shirts... →
An Urban Outfitters just opened in the next town over which is known as being one of the most gay friendly places to live in the US.
I will no longer be shopping at Urban Outfitters because I don’t want my money to go towards homophobia. Too bad. They have some really neat products. Oh well.

I had a personal training sesh at my gym today with a blonde aerobics instructor who was guzzling Red Bull like it was her job. She showed me the machines and helped me figure out which ones make sense, which was wonderful seeing as I am gym phobic.
As we were trying out different weight machines, she kept commenting on my form and at one point she said, “Oh, I bet you were a gymnast. Or...

At age 17, Laura Bush ran a stop sign and crashed into another car. The driver of the other car was a classmate, and he died.

Most Patients Should Be Screened for H.I.V.,... →
I definitely agree that HIV testing should be more routine, if only to normalize that process. But ultimately it’s the patient’s choice. Hopefully destigmatizing the act of being tested for HIV (and other STIs) will increase awareness and early detection.
Planned Parenthood Offers Birth Control As Holiday... →
Okay, so maybe it’s not the most glamorous holiday gift, but it sure is practical! I don’t even want to think about how much I’ve spent on birth control in my lifetime… And the gift of a Pap smear, especially for a woman who hasn’t been able to afford one in years, is potentially life saving.
Here’s your ever-friendly reminder that Planned Parenthood offers SO....
