Beyond Tebowmania - Giving Women a Choice -... →
Preach, Cecile! Seriously though, this is a concise and perfect rebuttal to the absurd notion that Planned Parenthood is somehow anti parenthood. This could not be further from the truth! Rather than listening to pundits with their own specific agendas, take it from me: I actually worked in a PP clinic. Planning for healthy pregnancies and families is a large part of what PP does. Through my...

Anti-Transgender Rant Will Be a Boon to Girl Scout... →
BUYcott Girl Scout cookies! Support inclusion and unity, not divisiveness and hate. What this girl Taylor’s video really demonstrates is how little people actually get about our transgender brothers and sisters and how damaging this can be. Someone should sit this child down and explain what “transgender” actually means, and maybe throw some thought-provoking questions in about...

Zoom In, Zumba Away - NYTimes.com →
I just have to share this because I too am a fan of Zumba. We have one instructor here on base, Elaine, whose non-judgmental and infectious enthusiasm always makes me glad to be in class, even if I’m slipping in my own sweat and achy the next morning. Unlike a dance class, Zumba takes you where you’re at and isn’t so much about getting the “right” moves as it is...

I forgot to add:
One of the saddest moments in my existence was the moment I realized that being an adult does not necessarily equal being smart. With age there comes a greater range of experiences from which to pull snippets of wisdom, but that doesn’t mean people actually do take it to the next level. Also, common sense isn’t commonly shared. Few people actually use it.

Conclusions from last night's phone call with the...
The zeal we feel for anthropology may or may not be the same fervor felt by the religious towards God. Except in our case we worship Dr. Andy Lass, and not-so-secretly, we feel that this is fully justified and appropriate. A sense of entitlement and desiring reward for hard work and dedication are not the same thing; we deserve good things because we work our damn asses off. There is more to...

Everything is More Magical on Broadway
One of the big splurges Jack and I made during our visit was tickets to see two different Broadway shows. I’ve been a huge musical theater fan since I was a wee little thing, but Jack is more of a recent convert. I took him to see his first Broadway show (Phantom of the Opera) a couple of years ago and so it didn’t take too much convincing this time around. As a birthday present, we...
